President Trump once again criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Tuesday, at an event celebrating his 100 days in office, where he also strongly promoted his economic policies and tariff system. Trump stated at an event outside Detroit, Michigan: "Despite some incompetence at the Federal Reserve, inflation is basically down and interest rates have also fallen." Despite saying earlier this month that he had no intention of firing the central bank chief after days of complaints about interest rate cuts, Trump still voiced his criticism. The uncertainty surrounding Powell's future has shaken the markets and intensified investor doubts about Trump's tariff plans. "You shouldn't be criticizing the Fed," Trump said. "You should let him do his job well - but I know more about interest rates than he does." Trump also urged Congress to pass his tax legislation, an extension of his 2017 tax reform law with additional provisions such as exemptions for tips, social security, and overtime pay. He also claimed that his signature tariff policy is crucial for stimulating economic growth and attracting manufacturers back to the United States. "They all want to come back to Michigan and start producing cars again. Do you know why? Because of our tax and tariff policies," Trump said.
