To avoid angering Trump, Walmart has decided to conceal the cost of tariffs and has promised to maintain low prices.
On Tuesday, the world's largest retailer Walmart rejected the idea of listing fees related to Trump's tariffs next to product prices. Earlier, Amazon was prepared to take this measure, which angered the White House and condemned it as "hostile political behavior." A spokesperson for Amazon later clarified that the idea had been considered for the Haul discount shopping website under Amazon's umbrella, but "was never approved and will not happen." A spokesperson for Walmart stated, "We will not list the details of product costs on our website." This spokesperson said that despite the uncertainty of Trump's aggressive tariffs, Walmart is working to keep prices of as many products as possible at the lowest level. Walmart's chief financial officer said earlier this month that over two-thirds of the products sold at Walmart stores in the United States are "manufactured or assembled" in the country.
