Spain's GDP maintained growth in the first quarter, but power outages cast a shadow over the outlook.
According to the Wise Wealth APP, Spain's consumption-led economy has once again achieved growth, but this week's widespread power outage may have an impact on economic growth. Data released on Tuesday showed that Spain's seasonally adjusted GDP grew by 0.6% on a quarterly basis and 2.8% year-on-year in the first quarter, slightly lower than expected and previous values. At the same time, Spain's April CPI rose by 2.2% year-on-year, higher than the median expectations and slightly above the European Central Bank's target of 2%. The core CPI, which excludes energy and some food costs, accelerated from 2% to 2.5%, also above expectations.
