Since US President Trump's so-called "equal tariffs", the attitude of global retail giant Walmart has undergone a dramatic change. From initially demanding that Chinese suppliers bear the high tariffs themselves to, just 20 days later, choosing to absorb the tariffs themselves due to inventory pressure and resume purchasing from China. According to the South China Morning Post, some manufacturers in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces have received notifications from major US retailers such as Walmart to resume shipments recently. Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces are export-heavy provinces heavily impacted by the US-China trade war. It was reported that on Monday, a large stationery and office supplies exporter in Ningbo received a notification from Walmart to resume normal shipments to the US. The company stated that the costs of the new import tariffs will be borne by the US customers.
