On April 29, Marriott International announced that they have reached an agreement to acquire the innovative lifestyle brand citizenM. After the completion of the transaction, Marriott International will pay $355 million to acquire the citizenM brand, including related intellectual property. With the completion of the transaction, the citizenM product portfolio will be integrated into the Marriott International system, and hotels owned and leased by the seller will enter into new long-term franchise agreements with Marriott. It is estimated that stable costs for already open and under construction projects will reach approximately $30 million per year. Currently, citizenM has 36 hotels with 8,544 rooms globally, spread across over 20 cities in the United States, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. The brand has 3 projects under construction, with a total of over 600 rooms expected to open in mid-2026.
