People from outside of Guangzhou can apply for public school enrollment when they purchase a house in Guangzhou.

On April 28th, the Nansha District Education Bureau in Guangzhou issued a notice. The notice pointed out that non-Nansha district residents who meet one of the following conditions can apply to enroll in the public compulsory education schools in Nansha district starting from the beginning grade level: Parents or other legal guardians of eligible children have purchased new commercial housing in the administrative area of Nansha district since January 10, 2025, and meet the requirement that parents or other legal guardians own 100% of the property or that parents or other legal guardians and children jointly own 100% of the property. Grandparents of eligible children have purchased new commercial housing in the administrative area of Nansha district since January 10, 2025, and also meet the requirement that grandparents own 100% of the property, the eligible children have lived with the grandparents for more than three years, and parents or other legal guardians do not own any property in the city.
