American experts: the idea of the US making LNG is a pipe dream.
Several analysts say LNG producers find it difficult to transport goods according to USTR standards. "Standard & Poor's Global" website says their reasons are that the cost of US shipbuilding is higher compared to overseas shipyards, among other factors. Joseph, a researcher at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy, says that the idea of the US building an LNG carrier in the next few years is a "pipe dream," as shipyards lack the experience and technology to build LNG carriers.
