The number of measles cases reported in France in 2024 has tripled compared to the previous year.
The French Public Health Agency recently released a report stating that there were a total of 483 reported cases of measles in the country in 2024, triple the number from 2023. Data shows that the median age of all measles patients in France in 2024 was 13 years, higher than in previous years. The age group with the highest incidence rate was infants under 1 year old, with 69 cases reported, related to several outbreaks in childcare facilities. Of the reported cases in 2024, 144 patients were hospitalized, with 7 admitted to intensive care units. There were no reported deaths. Hospitalized cases were mainly concentrated in children under 5 years old and adults over 30 years old.
