Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia: The volatility of the Australian dollar has "increased significantly" in recent times.
Assistant Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia Christopher Kent said that earlier this month when traders were studying the potential impact of the US tariff announcement, volatility in the global foreign exchange market "rose significantly", but has become "more stable" in recent days. He said, "The foreign exchange options volatility index has risen to levels seen during the pandemic, indicating a significant deterioration in liquidity."
