It is reported that shoppers will not be able to check out within ChatGPT, instead they will be redirected to the merchant's website to complete the transaction. The product recommendations shown to potential shoppers are based on ChatGPT's memory of user preferences and product reviews extracted from across the web. A spokesperson for OpenAI stated that the company will not receive affiliate marketing revenue for purchases made through ChatGPT.
