According to the Zhtng Financial APP, the Philippines Trade Minister stated that the Philippines will seek to reduce the tariffs imposed by the United States from the 17% announced earlier by President Trump to zero. Philippines Trade Minister Cristina Roque will meet with US commerce and trade officials this week in the United States. The Philippines has already proposed to purchase more agricultural products from the US before negotiations, similar to efforts made by other Southeast Asian countries. Roque told reporters on Monday, "We hope to get the best results for us, the goal is to truly reduce tariffs so we have a trade advantage."
