Middle East oil giant Saudi Aramco is increasing its investment in synthetic fuels, believing that even with the accelerated process of vehicle electrification, traditional internal combustion engines will still play an irreplaceable role in the transportation sector. Ahmad Al-Khowaiter, Saudi Aramco's Chief Technology Officer and Head of Research and Development, said that the global pursuit of electrification is too hasty. He believes that while electrification has its applications in the market, solutions like internal combustion engines are still indispensable.
