On April 28, Zhao Chenxin, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated at a press conference of the State Council Information Office that China has always adhered to the national food security strategy of "taking ourselves as the main focus, relying on domestic production, ensuring production capacity, moderately importing, and supporting with technology". China has implemented the strictest system of protecting arable land, practiced the concept of "storing grain in the ground and in technology", strengthened government reserves management, and promoted diversification of import sources. By 2024, China's grain production will exceed 1.4 trillion catties for the first time. China's per capita grain possession is much higher than the internationally recognized 400 kilograms grain security line. China is fully capable of achieving basic self-sufficiency in grain and absolute food security, ensuring that Chinese people's rice bowls are firmly in their own hands.
