At the press conference of the Beijing Financial Court on April 28, Song Yi, a member of the Party Group and Vice President of the Beijing Financial Court, stated that some platforms have issues with compulsory insurance. For example, some platforms require workers to buy specific insurance products from specific insurance companies, and tie them to their work in a forced manner, making it a requirement to purchase insurance in order to start working. Premiums are usually deducted from the workers' income, which is suspected of infringing on the independent choice rights of new forms of employment for workers. In practice, some workers have already purchased insurance on their own, but some platforms still force them to pay for insurance, leading to duplicate insurance coverage and hindering future claims.
