Former White House senior official: The impact of the tariff policy will be evident throughout the United States by the end of next month.
On April 27th local time, Gary Cohn, who previously served as the Director of the White House National Economic Council during Trump's first term, stated that the impact of the current US tariff policy will begin to be seen nationwide by the end of next month, based on the time required for goods transportation and distribution. Cohn said that people with lower income levels and weaker economic strength will spend 100% of their wages on purchasing goods, while the wealthy will store a higher proportion of their income. This means that tariffs will have a greater impact on low-income Americans. On the issue of interest rates, Cohn stated that from the perspective of the Federal Reserve, the institution is fulfilling its duties, so fundamentally, there is no reason for the Fed to take action to lower interest rates at this time.
