American economist and director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, Jeffrey Sachs, recently said that the United States' unilateralist policies are seriously affecting global peace and development. Speaking at the "Impact of Unilateralism and Bullying on International Relations" Arria Formula meeting hosted by China, Sachs stated that according to his research, the United States ranks last in the "Support for Multilateralism by Countries in the United Nations Index" among 193 UN member states, indicating that the U.S. is the country least supportive of UN multilateralism. He attributed this to the frequent violations of international commitments by the U.S., the implementation of unilateral sanctions, and the repeated voting against the majority of countries in the United Nations General Assembly.
