Chief analyst Craig Moffett believes that achieving diversification in India is not easy. He told clients that Apple's supply chain will still rely on and may face resistance. In a letter to clients, he wrote, "The key is that the global trade war is a two-front war that impacts costs and sales. Moving assembly operations to India may (we stress may) help address the former issue. The latter may ultimately be the bigger problem." He said, "All of this is not because Apple is a bad company. They still have a strong balance sheet and a strong consumer business. The reality is that when you are a product company, your products will be subject to high tariffs and there are no good solutions when you are entering a market where consumer demand may slow down due to macroeconomic reasons." Moffett pointed out that Apple has also not received help from carriers to cushion the impact of tariffs.
