From April 23 to 24, 2025, during the International Monetary Fund/World Bank Spring Meetings, Pan Gongsheng, Governor of the People's Bank of China, met separately with Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, Franois Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Bank of France, Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England, Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economic and Productivity, and Mairead McGuinness, European Commissioner for Financial Services, Savings, and Investment. They discussed global and Sino-European economic and financial situation, deepening bilateral practical financial cooperation, among other topics. Gongsheng emphasized that the current global economic recovery is full of uncertainties, and China and Europe should strengthen policy communication and coordination through mechanisms such as the China-Europe Central Banks Meeting, China-Europe Financial Working Group, and China-UK Financial Working Group, expand mutual market access in the financial sector, uphold multilateralism together, and inject more stability and certainty into the world economy.
