United Nations agencies: Over 480 civilians have been killed in North Darfur, Sudan since the 10th.
On the 25th local time, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a statement stating that as the Sudan Rapid Support Forces intensified their offensive against the capital of North Darfur State, Fashir, and surrounding refugee camps, civilian casualties, attacks on humanitarian aid workers, and incidents of sexual violence are on the rise. The statement pointed out that between April 20 and 24, at least 129 civilians were killed in Fashir, Um Kadada, and Abu Shouk refugee camp. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed that at least 481 civilians have been killed in North Darfur State since April 10, but the actual number may be much higher. The statement stated that as the Sudanese armed conflict enters its third year, the situation in North Darfur State is deteriorating. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Turkel, stated that the increasing number of civilian casualties and reports of large-scale violence are "shocking." He expressed deep concern over the continued attacks on humanitarian aid workers and medical personnel, stating that these actions not only violate international law but also exacerbate the already extremely limited access to medical services. Turkel called for an immediate halt to all human rights violations and atrocities by both sides of the conflict, and urged respect for international humanitarian law and human rights law to end this senseless war.
