The National Data Development Research Institute, the first national-level public institution established by the National Bureau of Statistics, was officially unveiled today.

On April 25th, the National Data Development Research Institute, the first official institution at the bureau level of the National Bureau of Statistics, was officially established. The first director of the institute is Hu Jianbo, former vice president and chief engineer of the China Academy of Information and Communications. The National Data Development Research Institute is mainly responsible for conducting research in the field of data to promote national economic and social development. This includes research on fundamental and forward-looking strategic issues in the data field such as Digital China, digital economy, and digital society; research on the construction of basic data-related institutions and policy recommendations; consultation and evaluation of the construction of the national data infrastructure system and projects; technical support and service guarantees; platform construction and project system integration; and international exchanges and cooperation in related fields.
