During this year's May Day holiday, small passenger cars with 7 seats or fewer are allowed to travel free of charge on national toll roads from 0:00 on May 1 to 24:00 on May 5. It is estimated that the daily average traffic volume on the national highways during the May Day holiday will be about 62 million vehicles, with a significant increase in inter-provincial and new energy vehicle traffic. The daily average traffic volume of new energy vehicles accounts for nearly 20% of the total daily traffic volume, showing a significant year-on-year increase. The peak period before the holiday is expected to be from 18:00 to 20:00 on April 30; on the first day of the holiday on May 1, there will be concentrated long-distance inter-provincial travel, with peak congestion expected from 10:00 to 12:00 as people leave the city; starting on May 4, the return traffic peak will start to show, with intermittent congestion, and a return congestion peak expected from 16:00 to 18:00.
