"May 1st" holiday approaching, it is expected that the number of inter-province cars and new energy vehicles will double.
The "May Day" holiday is approaching, the Ministry of Transport announced yesterday that in response to the possible congestion caused by free passage on highways, various measures will be taken to ensure smooth traffic flow. During this year's May Day holiday, small passenger cars with 7 seats or fewer are allowed to travel free of charge on national toll roads from 0:00 on May 1 to 24:00 on May 5. It is estimated that the daily average traffic volume on the national highways during the May Day holiday will be about 62 million vehicles, with a significant increase in inter-provincial and new energy vehicle traffic. The daily average traffic volume of new energy vehicles accounts for nearly 20% of the total daily traffic volume, showing a significant year-on-year increase. The peak period before the holiday is expected to be from 18:00 to 20:00 on April 30; on the first day of the holiday on May 1, there will be concentrated long-distance inter-provincial travel, with peak congestion expected from 10:00 to 12:00 as people leave the city; starting on May 4, the return traffic peak will start to show, with intermittent congestion, and a return congestion peak expected from 16:00 to 18:00.
