Cameroon holds presidential election

On October 12th, local time, Cameroon held presidential elections, with a total of 12 candidates including the incumbent president Paul Biya. About 8 million voters registered to vote in this election, and polling stations were open from 8 am to 6 pm local time, with all voting to be completed on the same day. The election results will be announced within 15 days, using a simple majority system where the candidate with the most votes wins. The current president, Paul Biya, is Cameroon's second president and is 92 years old. On November 6th, 1982, President Ahidjo resigned and Biya, who was then Prime Minister, succeeded to the presidency according to the constitution.
