Mexico approves six photovoltaic projects, adding nearly 650 MW of installed capacity.
Mexico's Ministry of Energy approved six new photovoltaic power generation projects in partnership with private partners. The ministry said in a statement released via message that these projects are expected to add nearly 650 megawatts of installed capacity to the country's strained power grid. The statement shows that the estimated investment in the projects exceeds US$750 million. These projects were submitted by private partners in the second round of renewable energy project tenders held by Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission. The photovoltaic plants are expected to generate 1,881 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually and will be equipped with battery energy storage facilities.
