Some analysts pointed out that although the newly released October nonfarm payroll data came in strong, it is actually already looking somewhat outdated. The market expects the Fed to raise rates in December, and the employment data further reinforced that expectation. The more important question right now is how severe the AI selloff will be, and whether it will trigger a deeper market plunge. If it does, that would become an entirely new variable for the Fed. At least for now, however, the stock market seems indifferent to the latest data. S&P 500 futures are little changed from before the data was released. After the congressional elections, investors' attention remains focused more on the debate over AI valuations.
