Forbes' Top 10 Global Billionaires Lose $273 Billion in Wealth in a Single Month; Musk's Fortune Shrinks by $68 Billion
Zhitong Finance APP has learned that, according to Forbes, over the past month, technology companies' earnings fell short of expectations, and AI spending triggered market concerns, dragging down the tech-heavy Nasdaq index by nearly 5%, with the total wealth of the world's ten richest people evaporating by $273 billion. The world's richest person, Elon Musk, suffered the largest loss. As of midnight Eastern Time on November 1, his net worth had shrunk by about $68 billion to $869 billion. SpaceX's share price fell 11%, accounting for nearly four-fifths of Musk's wealth, which not only offset the 13% gain in Tesla's share price but also caused a net decline in his overall net worth. However, Musk's wealth is still more than twice that of the second-ranked Jeff Bezos; affected by a 4% decline in Amazon's share price, Bezos's net worth shrank by about $8 billion to $361 billion.
