France plans to approve a traffic tax on internet giants, at 0.055 euros per GB of content.
France has reportedly approved a proposed tax aimed at taxing every GB of internet data sent to French users, with major companies such as Google, Netflix, and Meta currently in the crosshairs. According to meeting records published by the French National Assembly, lawmakers voted 11 to 10 in favor of the motion on October 30 meaning that despite strong opposition from the government side and the Finance Committee rapporteur, the new law has been incorporated into the country's next budget round.
