The US ambassador to Bangladesh said Bangladesh is poised to sign more deals to buy US liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the Trump administration pushes to expand American energy exports. Brent Christensen, the US ambassador, said the Bangladeshi government is currently reviewing multiple LNG sales proposals and further agreements to purchase liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) could follow. "We think there will be more deals signed soon," he said. "We want to make sure that allies and partners have reliable sources of energy supply." Bangladesh is facing a fuel supply shortage after the war in the Middle East disrupted LNG shipments from Qatar. The supply disruption has forced Asian countries to seek alternative sources. The US, the world's largest gas exporter, is actively trying to fill the supply gap. Christensen said the US estimates that Bangladesh's LNG market could be worth about $10bn next year and grow to $30bn by 2050.
