Today, the track-laying work for the entire Yunnan-Kunming high-speed railway line will be completed, entering the stage of static acceptance and joint commissioning and testing. The Yunnan-Kunming high-speed railway line starts from Chongqing West Station, passes through Chongqing Municipality, Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province and Yunnan Province, and connects to Kunming South Station, with a total length of about 700 kilometers. It is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming corridor of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network and is expected to be ready for operation in 2027. By then, the travel time from Kunming to Chongqing will be reduced to about two and a half hours, and from Kunming to Chengdu to less than three hours. This will create a rapid passenger transport corridor between the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the central Yunnan urban agglomeration, driving economic and social development along the route.
