Last year, 6.76 million couples registered for marriage nationwide. Guangdong ranked first in marriage registrations for four consecutive years.

According to the China Statistical Yearbook 2026, compiled and published by the National Bureau of Statistics, there were 6.7651 million marriage registrations nationwide in 2025. The data shows that Guangdong Province had the highest number of marriages in the country last year, at 613,800 couples, making it the only province with more than 600,000 marriage registrations and ranking first nationwide for four consecutive years. In 2025, the number of marriages in Guangdong increased by 101,900 couples from the previous year, a year-on-year increase of 19.9%.
