BlockBeats news, October 9 Moderna will officially be added to the Nasdaq 100 Index before the U.S. stock market opens at 21:30 Beijing time tonight (October 9), replacing Warner Bros. Discovery. The adjustment was announced on October 1. From the U.S. market close on October 1 before the announcement to the latest close on October 8, MRNA's stock price rose from $188.94 to $197, accumulating a gain of about 4.27%. Moderna is an American biotechnology company that develops vaccines and drugs using mRNA technology, with research covering infectious diseases, cancer, and rare diseases. In addition to its vaccine business, the company's personalized mRNA cancer therapy in collaboration with Merck announced positive Phase 3 trial results in August, meeting the primary endpoint of recurrence-free survival in adjuvant treatment for melanoma, which was the main catalyst for the stock price. Recently, a suspected pneumonic plague incident in Russia also drew attention to vaccine stocks, and Moderna rose about 6.95% on October 5. However, as of the latest publicly available information, the pathogen in the incident has still not been confirmed by the WHO; Russia said testing of contacts found no plague, and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control also said there is no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission.
