French Finance Minister Roland Lescure said there is still investor demand for French government bonds. In a television interview, he said: "We issue government bonds every two weeks, and there is no problem at all. Investors are willing to buy French bonds, they just demand higher yields." Earlier, the French Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday that it would not adjust its government bond issuance strategy and would continue to make use of flexibility in the auction process. Lescure also expressed optimism that the French budget bill can be passed, and noted that the government must reduce the fiscal deficit. He said: "The public deficit situation is worrying, which is why we must act immediately."
