By the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan, what will the water network look like? The Ministry of Water Resources provides six sets of target data.
Zhou Zhiwei, deputy director of the Planning and Program Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, stated that by the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China is expected to: add 15 billion cubic meters of reservoir storage capacity; achieve a 91% compliance rate for important dikes; add 40 million mu of irrigated farmland; raise the rural tap water coverage rate to 98%; add 310,000 square kilometers of area under soil erosion control; and keep the compliance rate for basic ecological flow of key rivers and lakes above 90%.
