South Korean police have reportedly launched a formal investigation into recent hacking attacks on financial institutions and established a 28-member special investigation team to handle the case. The National Investigation Headquarters of the Korean National Police Agency said on the 6th that after confirming the objective facts, it officially opened the case on suspicion of violating the Information and Communications Network Act. Considering the severity of the incident, police have designated the National Police Agency's Cyber Terror Investigation Team as the special investigation team for the case and are reviewing whether to report it to the Serious Crimes Investigation Department. Recently, seven financial companies in South Korea, including Shinhan Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, and Hana Bank, suffered hacking attacks, with signs found in multiple places that the same attacker used artificial intelligence to carry out the attacks.
