On the fourth day of the National Day holiday, passenger flow across the country's transportation network continued to run at a high level. Railway, highway, and waterway authorities promptly increased capacity and optimized services to ensure the safe and smooth travel of passengers. Today, railways nationwide carried 19.273 million passengers, up 6.1 percent year on year. Medium- and short-distance passenger flow increased notably. Railway authorities in many places worked in coordination with local culture and tourism departments to set up "tourist service centers" at station exits, providing passengers with services such as purchasing tickets for popular attractions, tour guide consultations, and scenic area shuttle connections. At the same time, for popular routes, capacity was increased through measures such as coupling EMU trains, adding temporary passenger trains, and adding overnight high-speed trains. On highways, cross-provincial travel and traffic by new energy vehicles continued to grow. According to assessments, 33 sections of national expressways are prone to congestion, mainly in Jiangsu, Sichuan, Guangdong, Hunan, Zhejiang, and other provinces. Transportation authorities temporarily opened emergency lanes based on traffic volume and sudden road conditions. On waterways, today's passenger volume is expected to exceed 1.95 million. Island tours, urban sightseeing tours, and cruise passenger flow continued to remain at a high level. Maritime authorities used smart maritime platforms to track ship trajectories and implemented onboard escort support and maritime patrol boat accompaniment for key routes to fully ensure the safety of water travel.
