Advisor to the UAE President: The regional fight against extremism is not over

Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the UAE president, said on the 3rd that the incident in the cockpit of the flydubai passenger plane once again shows that the region's fight against extremism is not over. Gargash said in a post on social media that day that the UAE took a firm stance early on, with "zero tolerance" for extremism. He said that maintaining security must first begin with combating hatred and eradicating the root causes that breed extremism. UAE Attorney-General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said earlier that day that an investigation into the cockpit conflict incident on the flydubai passenger plane showed that the co-pilot involved attempted to carry out "terrorist activities."
