French government financing costs rose by more than 6 basis points.
In late European trading on Thursday, the French 10-year government bond yield rose 6.2 basis points to 4.919%, showing an overall N-shaped trend. At 15:31 it refreshed the daily high to 4.966% approaching the third-quarter 2002 peak of 5.115% then fell back, and at 20:02 refreshed the daily low to 4.799%. The two-year French bond yield rose 6.3 basis points to 3.682%, approaching the September 29 peak of 3.712% and the third-quarter 2008 high of 4.858%; the 30-year French bond yield rose 7.0 basis points to 5.538%, reaching 5.588% at 23:36, approaching the second-quarter 2001 peak of 5.888% and the first-quarter 2000 peak of 6.314%. The Italian 10-year government bond yield rose 8.0 basis points to 4.649%; the two-year Italian bond yield rose 11.3 basis points to 3.609%, having risen to 3.667% at 22:29. The Spanish 10-year government bond yield rose 0.2 basis points to 4.135%. The Greek 10-year government bond yield rose 7.9 basis points to 4.564%.
