Cboe Global Markets is considering listing perpetual futures tied to the Cboe Volatility Index. Cboe is evaluating this direction as major U.S. exchanges race to bring this type of high-leverage instrument, which dominates the crypto market, into new asset classes. Currently, the market cannot directly trade the VIX index itself, but once the U.S. regulatory framework for perpetual futures becomes clearer, Cboe will explore listing VIX perpetual contracts. Rob Hocking, Cboe's global head of derivatives, called on regulators to provide clearer guidance on the regulation of perpetual futures, saying, "Before we start the game, we need to know the rules of the game."
