The "China State Railway Group Railway Freight Transport Regulations" take effect today.

The "China Railway Group Railway Freight Transport Regulations" officially came into effect today, according to China Railway Group. The regulations further clarify the rights and responsibilities of all parties involved in railway freight transport, including carriers and shippers, and revise existing railway freight transport rules and measures. The provision "the carrier determines the weight" has been changed to "whoever loads the goods determines the weight, and the carrier has the right to recheck"; compensation for exceeding the delivery deadline has been changed from "compensation to the consignee" to "compensation to the shipper"; the validity period for shippers to file claims or seek refunds or supplementary payments from carriers has been extended from 180 days to three years; and the allowable delivery period for perishable and other highly time-sensitive goods has been changed from "must be greater than the goods delivery period by 3 days" to 2 days.
