Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee said in a social media post today that today is the great occasion of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it is the first National Day since the publication of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development, making it especially significant. Over the past 77 years, the Chinese nation has achieved a historic leap from standing up, to growing prosperous, and to becoming strong. In formulating a five-year plan, Hong Kong is not only setting out a series of policy measures, but also engaging in strategic planning based on the unique advantages of "one country, two systems," conforming to the trends of the times, and seizing national development opportunities. John Lee stressed that opportunities will not wait forever, and we must make decisive decisions and act in step with the times, proactively integrate into and serve the overall national development, so that Hong Kong can develop better and residents can share more of the dividends of development.
