The "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Wuhan Metropolitan Area" was released.

According to Wuhan Release, the Hubei Provincial People's Government has issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Wuhan Metropolitan Area." The Plan proposes that by 2030, the GDP of the core metropolitan area will reach approximately 4 trillion yuan, the broader Wuhan metropolitan area will strive to reach approximately 5 trillion yuan, a 1-hour commuting circle will be basically formed, the capacity of the Wuhan Regional Science and Technology Innovation Center will be further enhanced, and an integrated, coordinated, and interconnected development pattern will be generally established. The Plan sets out the overall goals for the development of the Wuhan metropolitan area: to serve as the main engine for the coordinated development of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, an important growth pole for national high-quality development, and a world-class metropolitan area. It also looks ahead to 2035, when Wuhan's role as a national central city and core city of the Yangtze River Economic Belt will be fully brought into play, the Wuhan Regional Science and Technology Innovation Center will be fully completed, the integration effect of the metropolitan area will continue to strengthen, driving the province to take the lead in basically achieving socialist modernization in the central region, and breakthrough progress will be made in promoting the coordinated development of the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River with the Wuhan metropolitan area at its center.
