The Liuwudian Suspension Bridge, a key control project of the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge, has been closed.

The Liuwudian suspension bridge, a key control project of the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge, was successfully closed on September 24, creating favorable conditions for advancing the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge project toward opening its main offshore line to traffic. The Liuwudian suspension bridge is China's first five-span continuous, three-span suspension, combined pylon, planar-cable suspension bridge. It is also Fujian Province's longest-span bridge and its first fully offshore sea suspension bridge, with a total length of 1,948 meters and a main span of 928 meters. The bridge deck consists of 126 streamlined flat steel box girders, with a total weight of about 53,000 tonnes, about 70 meters above the sea surface, and its navigable opening can accommodate 200,000-tonne cargo vessels. Next, the project team will accelerate the construction of the Liuwudian suspension bridge's deck system and electromechanical traffic safety engineering, go all out to meet the annual construction targets, and push for the Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge's main offshore line to be completed and opened to traffic on schedule. The Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge has a total length of about 19.6 kilometers. Once the entire line is completed and opened to traffic, it will join Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport and the Xiamen-Kinmen route to form a new land-sea-air multidimensional transportation framework for Taiwan.
