Around 2028, FAST is expected to achieve full-chain domestic production.

Jiang Peng, director and chief engineer of the FAST Operation and Development Center, introduced that it has already taken several years to explore layer by layer, from the terminal feed to the RF circuit amplifier, all the way to the chip. The phased array and 19-beam receiver are still imported at present, and it is hoped that full domestic production can be achieved around 2028. Jiang Peng stated that there are plans to build 64 radio telescopes with a 40-meter aperture around FAST in the future, forming a comprehensive aperture array centered on FAST. This would be the world's only comprehensive aperture array centered on a giant telescope and surrounded by medium-aperture telescopes. After it is completed, it is expected to increase FAST's resolution by 200 times, with sensitivity simultaneously improved by about two times.
