Fed Chair Warsh emphasized at a press conference that stabilizing consumer prices is crucial to driving U.S. economic growth. Earlier, the Fed raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points. Warsh said: "Price stability is the foundation of economic growth. I believe we took an important step today to achieve that goal. Part of the reason is that we withdrew the portion of easing we had previously mentioned."
