On September 15 local time, the United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting on the situation in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. UN Assistant Secretary-General Khaled Khiari reported that in recent days the situation in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and surrounding areas has become increasingly volatile, and fighting on Yemen's western coast has continued to escalate.
