On August 17, the Office of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management continued to organize joint consultations with departments such as the China Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and the Ministry of Transportation, as well as key provinces like Jiangsu, Henan, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, to assess the trend of recent heavy rainfall and to deploy flood prevention work. The National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management maintained a Level 3 flood emergency response for Jiangsu, and a Level 4 flood emergency response for Henan, Zhejiang, and Anhui. The previously dispatched work teams continued to assist and guide flood relief efforts on the front lines in the Taihu area of Jiangsu. The 13 drainage teams previously dispatched by the Ministry of Emergency Management continued to carry out drainage operations in Zhoukou, Henan. Chen Min, Director of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters Office, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Management, and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Water Resources, presided over the consultations.
