The National Bureau of Statistics: The focus of residents' consumption has shifted from "buying goods" to "enjoying services and emphasizing experiences."
On August 17, Wang Guanhua, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics and Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Statistics Department of National Economy, stated at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office that extreme weather events such as typhoons, heavy rain, and high temperatures in July had affected offline consumption in some areas. However, overall, service consumption growth still demonstrated strong stability, with a growth rate consistently outpacing that of retail goods. From January to July, service retail sales grew by 5.0%, exceeding the growth of retail goods by 3.9 percentage points. The focus of resident consumption has shifted from "buying goods" to "enjoying services and valuing experiences."
