On August 17, the State Council Information Office held a press conference regarding the operation of the national economy in July 2026. Wang Guanhua, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics and deputy director of the Comprehensive Statistics Department of the national economy, stated that the recent meeting of the Central Political Bureau emphasized optimizing and implementing policies for financial and fiscal coordination to promote domestic demand, expanding quality supply to meet the consumption needs of different groups, and tapping into the potential of service consumption. Various regions and departments are working swiftly to implement these measures. In the next phase, a series of policies aimed at expanding domestic demand and promoting consumption will be gradually put into practice, continuously releasing the potential of service consumption, and the rapid iteration of new products will stimulate new types of consumer demand, which will continue to support a reasonable rebound in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
