The United States is laying out an AI supply chain, with Panama piloting a platform to accelerate the circulation of key commodities.

The Trump administration has announced a new initiative aimed at accelerating the transport of goods deemed essential for the development of artificial intelligence between the United States and its closest trade partners. The U.S. State Department stated on Wednesday that it will establish a pilot platform in Panama as part of the U.S.-led "Silicon-Based Peace Initiative" to expedite the trade flow of critical products for AI. This initiative aims to strengthen supply chain cooperation among allies. In a statement, the U.S. State Department announced that it will invest up to $50 million in foreign aid to develop and deploy this platform, which will leverage artificial intelligence technology to streamline logistics processes. Jacob Helberg, the Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, mentioned in an email, The project is expected to accelerate logistics and compliance operations. The focus of the project is to assist Panama and other participating economies in tracking and expediting the transport of high-value goods from trusted suppliers, which involve AI infrastructure, semiconductors, and critical minerals, covering the entire AI supply chain.
