On August 6 local time, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, implementing minimum import prices and additional tariffs on imported polysilicon and its derivative products to support the U.S. domestic polysilicon, semiconductor, and solar supply chains. JinkoSolar staff stated that further analysis of the newly released U.S. policy is needed, and once the analysis is mature, further communication can take place, and third-party institutional analysis can also be referenced. On the same day, Trina Solar staff indicated that the company mainly sells solar modules, and polysilicon is just one of the raw materials for module production, representing one link in the industry chain. Additionally, the company has relatively low exports to North America, and shipments are primarily through partners, so the immediate impact is not significant. (China News Service).
