Survey: The Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to remain steady until the end of the year to assess the impact of previous interest rate hikes.

A Reuters survey shows that the Reserve Bank of Australia will maintain its policy interest rate next week and will keep it unchanged for the remainder of 2026 to assess the impact of earlier rate hikes on the economy. Since February, the RBA has cumulatively raised the cash rate by 75 basis points to 4.35%, completely reversing last year's easing policy to curb inflationary pressures that had built up even before the US and Israel went to war with Iran, driving oil prices sharply higher. Many economists indicate that potential inflation momentum is weakening, providing reasons for policymakers to continue adopting a wait-and-see approach.
